Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Not all all-wheel drives are created equally. Subaru’s symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system provides a completely balanced vehicle, giving you more positive, predictable control.
When coupled with the even distribution of power to all four wheels, you have a vehicle that is better equipped to handle more situations – especially slippery, uneven and off-camber surfaces. The key to the safety and performance of Subaru’s symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system is the excellent matching of our special Boxer engine and symmetrical drive train. The engine is balanced and sits low in the centre of the vehicle. The longitudinal transmission, drive shaft, differentials and symmetrical axles all balance along the vehicle’s centreline.

It all contributes to a superbly balanced vehicle, with better stability and obvious advantages in ride, handling and road holding.

Boxer engine

Owning a Subaru means enjoying the balanced performance of Subaru’s specially developed Boxer engine. The Boxer engine has a symmetrical, horizontally opposed layout. With all its pistons moving on the same plane, the engine enjoys better balance when running. It also sits lower in the engine bay, giving your vehicle the extra stability of a lower centre of gravity. Subaru Boxer engines are very compact, but still provide high levels of power, torque and fuel efficiency.

Every new engine is covered by a three year-unlimited kilometre warranty. All new Subaru vehicles require a first service at 5000km or 3 months whichever comes first, thereafter the servicing reverts back to the regular service intervals of 12,500kms or six months whichever comes first.
