Auto-levelling headlamps, headlamp cleaners, rain-sensing wipers

The All New Corolla’s exterior doesn’t just look great; it also comes complete with a raft of exterior technologies that make every drive safer and more convenient. Auto-levelling HID headlamps (Levin ZR Hatch and Ultima Sedan) automatically adjust the optical axis based on the car’s load. And they even clean themselves! You just hit the washer button, and Corolla’s unique flip type headlamp cleaners activate, giving you much more effective night-time illumination. Your windscreen wipers, on the other hand, are automatic (Levin ZR & Ultima). As soon as rain is detected on the windscreen, the wipers engage automatically, stopping again when they’re no longer needed. Of course, you can override the auto function at any time, using the standard wiper lever.

The All New Corolla possesses all the hallmarks of a contemporary European small car: Stylish, sleek, energetic and assertive, with just a hint of attitude. Hatch or sedan – decisions, decisions...

Available in both Hatch and sedan variations, the question isn’t whether to buy a Corolla, it’s which Corolla to buy. Both are Euro-inspired, sleek, aerodynamic, proud and full of character, and both are available in 6 speed manual or 4 speed automatic with gated shift (except Ultima sedan, which is 4 spd auto only). But each offers a little something special to appeal to the individuality in every driver.

Hatch - Designed at Toyota’s ED2 design studio in Nice, France, the Hatch is longer, wider and taller than previous models, with a sporty aggressive stance and 283 litres of luggage space. Hatch models available: Ascent, Conquest, Levin SX, Levin ZR
Sedan - The All New sedan, on the other hand, was designed at Toyota’s studio in Nagoya, Japan. Delivering a perfect balance of European-inspired style and Japanese technology, it’s sleek and sophisticated and boasts 450 litres of boot capacity. Sedan models available: Ascent, Conquest, Ultima.

AB-i – Active Braking with intelligence - for all conditions

True to its heritage, the All New Corolla makes safety a priority. All models are equipped with Toyota’s advanced AB-i braking system, which combines Anti-skid Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD). AB-i is standard on all new Corolla models, and delivers uncompromising stopping power in virtually any conditions.

Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) – ABS allows you to continue steering under heavy braking. It prevents the wheels from locking up by rapidly ‘pulsing’ the brake on each wheel independently. This helps you retain control of steering and helps prevent the vehicle from skidding.
Brake Assist (BA) - Designed to assist you in emergency braking situations, where you can’t apply the high pedal force required to obtain the shortest possible braking distance. BA interprets a quick, hard push of the brake pedal as emergency braking and supplements the braking power so that the car slows rapidly.
Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) – EBD minimises your stopping distance by maximising braking power to the wheels that have the most grip. It also adjusts automatically to increased load, moving brake force from the front to the rear to ensure maximum brake-force is delivered.

Up to 7 airbags

With the All New Corolla, Toyota continues to lead the way in occupant safety. In fact, the All New Corolla is the only vehicle in its class with a knee airbag available, and consequently, the only vehicle in its class with up to 7 airbags. All models now come standard with dual front SRS airbags (driver and front passenger), and Conquest, Levin ZR and Ultima come complete with front seat-mounted side, front and rear curtain-shield airbags and even a driver’s knee airbag (all of which are optionally available on the Ascent and Levin SX).

Occupant Protection – More than just SRS airbags!

When it comes to occupant safety, airbag protection is just the start for the All New Corolla. It includes a host of additional occupant safety features dedicated to protecting you and your passengers, such as Whiplash-Injury Lessening (WIL) front seats to reduce the chance of neck injury in a rear-end collision, and omni-directional crash compatibility to aid protection against impact from any direction.

Advanced pedestrian safety

n the unlikely event of an accident involving a pedestrian, the frontal area of the vehicle offers them greater protection. All New Corolla models come equipped with a number of pedestrian safety measures, designed to reduce head and torso injury. Measures include a crushable cowl profile structure, a drop out mechanism for the wiper pivot body, re-positioned bonnet lock, and impact absorbers within the front bumper reinforcement and radiator support.
