Both the 4000S and the 4000SL models include a range of sporty features, including over-fender flares, a black TRD sports bar, black mesh radiator grille, sports front bumper and side steps with the TRD logo. The TRD HiLux isn't just all about power. It has agility too. The chassis package was designed to bring together seemingly contradictory goals: superior levels of ride, handling and braking, 4x4 off road capability, and commercial sports truck functionality – with no compromises along the way. The springs have been re-tuned, and the reduction in suspension height delivers greater overall stability. Specially-developed Bilstein monotube dampers have been placed at the front and rear, and have been fitted with 17" diameter alloy wheels and all terrain tyres. The high-performance Bilstein dampers have been tuned for flat roll control, good isolation and maximum tyre contact - giving you better grip and control in any situation. The increased tyre diameter also ensures off-road clearance is maintained.
No matter what conditions you're driving in, the new TRD HiLux makes it easy to adjust – with an intelligent, five speed automatic transmission, along with gated shift. While you drive, the vehicle collects a whole range of data – regarding the opening angle of the throttle, vehicle speed, engine speed and even from brake signals. This data allows the in-built Toyota A750F Super Electronic Control Transmission to "read" terrain and road conditions. Then, you have the benefit of intelligent shift technology, which works in conjunction with your linkless electronic throttle to shift your driving regime according to road conditions and individual driver behaviour. So it's always a smooth ride.
As well as boasting a new, fitter look, the TRD HiLux's new wheel and tyre package makes for a smoother, sturdier ride. The unique 17" alloy wheels feature 265/65 R17 all terrain Bridgestone tyres.
The TRD HiLux's brake package has been specially developed for maximum performance and confidence – in all conditions on-road and off-road.
It includes 338 x 28mm ventilated front brake rotors with four-piston callipers - which help maintain the vehicle's direction and control in the event of heavy braking. For added control and safety, the new TRD HiLux also features an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
When you hit the accelerator of the new TRD HiLux, you'll be
in awe of its rapid responsiveness and performance. It is, after
all, Toyota's first Australian supercharged commercial vehicle
and it's the most powerful HiLux ever. Under the hood, you'll
find a 4.0L V6 engine which boasts an impressive 225kW of
power at 5,400rpm, and 453Nm of torque at 2,800rpm thanks
to the Eaton® M90 supercharger. In fact - at just 1,200rpm,
the TRD HiLux engine actually matches the 376Nm peak
torque of the naturally aspirated HiLux engine. To enable such
low torque and rapid acceleration, the engine of the new TRD
HiLux features an Eaton® M90 supercharger with a Magnuson
housing, regulated by a water-to-air intercooler. When
compared to the standard HiLux V6, the new TRD HiLux boasts around 25% more power, and a more impressive fuel economy of 12.9 litres for every 100km*.

Now you can drive smoothly and confidently, no matter what the conditions are like on the outside. The powerful, new TRD HiLux 4000SL model is equipped with Dual-range 4-wheel drive, along with Toyota's Automatic Disconnecting Front Differential (ADD), which allows for on-the-move shifting between 2- and 4-wheel drive modes. This means you can rapidly adjust your control and grip on terrain, without needing to come to a stop.
To minimise lag and maximise acceleration, the grunty engine
of the new TRD HiLux boasts an Eaton®M90 supercharger.
Unlike a turbocharger – which is driven by exhaust gases, this
evolutionary M90 supercharger is connected to the crankshaft
by a belt. It provides improved horsepower and torque at
lower engine rpms, by pumping extra air into the engine in
direct relationship to crankshaft speed – which yields an
instant response. The Eaton® M90 Supercharger also boasts
an innovative, self-contained lubrication system – unlike a
turbocharger, which utilises engine oil.
No matter where the road takes you, the new TRD HiLux can be relied upon to carry heavy loads. Built for strength, the TRD HiLux has a braked towing capacity of 2250kg, and an unbraked capacity of 750kg#.
